Chris Godsil – 100 games and still smiling

5 Aug 2015 by James Gray

Upon starting at Monash University in 2005, Chris had a false start with the Blues, sustaining a badly dislocated elbow in a tackle during a pre-season practice match. He returned in 2009 and quickly made a strong impression with his dedication to the club, commitment to the team, flashy on field ability and trade mark smile.

Chris earned the respect of his peers and coaches and was made Captain of the reserves for the next four seasons. Chris was part of the clubs revival in 2010, being voted runner up best and fairest, leading from the front, narrowly missing out on the chocolates in the big dance (Reserves Grand Final). He set a high benchmark to captaincy with his pre-match speeches being penned on Friday night to ensure the message had the desired effect on his troops.

Chris has been a solid performer, initially utilised all over the ground he has now established himself as a reliable backman. He gives 100 percent each week, would run through a brick wall for his mates and is a tough critic of his own game.

The whole club will be smiling with you this week as they reflect on what a great sportsman, clubman and role model you are.

Congratulations on 100 games Godders, all the best.
