Daniel Brogden 100 Games

27 Aug 2015 by James Gray

Introduced to the realm of Monash Blues Football as a bright eyed, bushy tailed youngster from Ballarat in 2008, Daniel Brogden has been a stalwart of the Blues for many seasons both on and off the field. Having enjoyed many successes at the club from the under 19s through to a senior grand final appearance “Broggo”, or “The Chin”, has also had to persevere through two serious knee injuries to reach his significant milestone of 100 games. Thankfully he has returned to peak form this season, standing in as the Reserves Captain for the past 10 rounds, inspiring the troops to rise from sixth place to second on the ladder.

From the sidelines one can hear adoring fans describe Broggo as “the best hands at the club”, “the biggest calf muscles in the league”, “the roughest chin in the country”. Broggo’s gung ho playing style is a real crowd pleaser – there is no wonder his theme song is Tubthumping by Chumbawamba!

A true play anywhere “utility” – Broggo’s team mates love to take the field with him, knowing he will always crack-in chin first at the footy, beat his opponent and protect his mates. Broggo’s dedication to game day preparation, injury rehabilitation, club duties and dancefloor stamina should be an inspiration to all young Monash men aspiring to achieve greatness.

Enjoy your 100th game Broggo, it has been well deserved.
