Shane Chapman 200 games

8 Apr 2016 by James Gray

Congratulations to Shane “Muncha” Chapman who will play his 200th game for the Club this week. Lining up in a forward pocket on Saturday as a playing coach, Shane will be sure to instruct the team to give him the ball at every opportunity and clear out the 50m arc in an effort to kick a milestone bag.

Shane arrived at Monash Blues in 2001 as a fresh faced, bleached blonde, surfy necklace wearing first year student. It wasn’t long before Shane tasted success, playing a vital role (at least according to him) in back to back flags in 2002 and 2003 with the Under 19s and D1 Seniors respectively.

Thirteen years, several injuries and multiple retirements later Muncha is still playing with the club even though 2003 is arguably the year his off field highlights started taking the spotlight. In addition to the aforementioned premierships, Shane has received a number of accolades during his time at the club. These include Most Determined Player, Life Membership and one he holds dearest to his heart (selection in the Footy Trip Team of the Era).

Shane has been a stalwart of Monash Blues over the last 15 years as a player, committee member and coach. With the support of his parents and his younger, fitter and better looking brother, Shane has carved out a thorough resume on and off field at Monash. All the best in game 200 and let’s hope the old bones can make it to 250!

Keep on Munchin’!
