SHANE CHAPMAN - 250 GAMES

19 Jul 2019 by Luke Leviston

Congratulations go to Shane “Muncha” Chapman, the fourth ever Monash Blue to 250 Games this week! Shane started with the Ashes back in 2001, with his peroxide rinses/coloured tips and uncompromising attack on the ball having been a constant for the Blues ever since. Shane has the very rare distinction of being the clubs only ever player to win premierships with 3 different sides, taking part in the clubs Under 19s premiership in 2002, D1 Seniors flag in 2003 and Fourths victory with his brother Nibbler in 2018.

Shane has played for all five male sides over his career with the Blues, after starring for the firsts for a number of years Shane has stepped back through the grades helping out the club where needed with his folks watching on every week. Consistently seen with a bent or bloody nose or bandaged head after another fearless contest, Muncha has a knack for a goal or two whether it be via a clever lead or canny rove that his opponents are helpless to stop.

After starting at the club as a Footy Trip Specialist and Mini Bus rally driver, Muncha has taken on significant responsibility at the club over his career as playing coach of the reserves, thirds and fourths; captaining various teams; acting as a committee member and consistently lending a hand wherever needed around the club, particularly with the clubs women’s sides in recent years, often doing a full day of work to help the club be a great place for everyone to play football. Shane is a life member of the club, quadruple Whites best and fairest winner in the thirds and fourths, most determined player (2002) and most recently Best Clubman winner. We wish Muncha all the best after a fantastic career, his Ashes resume speaks for itself, what a champion!
