Andrew Hawes - 100 Games

30 Jul 2021 by Luke Leviston

Andrew “Hawesy” Hawes will play his 100th game for the Monash Blues this Saturday on the Frearson. Joining the club in 2013 as a softly spoken youngster from the mean streets of Langwarrin, Hawesy rose to prominence winning the reverse draw later that year and funding the Unders Vote Count.

A reliable team man in the Fourths beginning as a forward, Hawesy has also become a reliable pinch-hitting ruckman and even put on a clinic as an intercept backman for a quarter after being dropped to the Lorne reserves on preseason camp before promptly being restored to the Ashes line up. In recent seasons, Hawesy has taken on the role of 4ths fines master making sure no crime goes unpunished and the players player tab lasts as long as possible.

Hawesy is a popular teammate, despite everyone who knows him avoiding the hot seat beside him in the jug game at social functions. In 2018 Hawesy achieved the ultimate success winning a 4ths Grand Final alongside many club legends and his one season wonder brother Nathan.

Congratulations on the milestone and best of luck for Saturday!
